The Problem
The United States has a plethora of under-resourced youth in Title 1 schools that aren’t familiar with the resources that are available for disadvantaged students interested in post-secondary education. Studies show that students are less likely to obtain a degree because college seems like an unattainable goal due to the high cost of attendance.
The College Dropout Rate
In correlation with the lack of financial support and knowledge, the drop out rate for college students is increasing at a constant rate; even though more students are attending college since the 1970s
30%
Students in the United States obtained a B.A. in 2018
79%
Students reported a delay in graduation due to financial constraints
55%
Reported issues paying for college.
The Solution
The Gail McKay Foundation created a program that educates students prior to attending an institution of higher learning; this gives them the opportunity to experience an establishment in person, and to learn the key drivers for a successful college career.
In addition, our scholarship program will provide students with funds that can help relieve some of the financial burdens of attending an establishment.
With that, our vision is to ensure that every student who participates in our program, has experiences that will be the motive for a successful post-secondary education.
